I Had a Great Day- Living in My Gratitude
Share
Last week I had a doctors appointment at a new location with a new healthcare provider. I am an anxious person when it comes to new things so I practiced my breathing and used one of my aromatherapy inhalers to "bring it down a level" before the appointment. Why am I sharing this? Because this day that I wasn't really looking forward to, ended up being a great day. It began when I met a woman in the lobby who was just a hot ticket (yes I just said hot ticket) and she reminded me of my aunt/godmother who passed a few months ago, just a character who I always felt a strong connection to. We started chatting and she mentioned her anxiety and it naturally led to my business and what I do for a living. She took my website information (I never have one of my business cards on me) and said her daughter would love my products. Next up, the physicians assistant called me and she happened to have on sparkly crocs. Immediately, I thought of my mum, who passed five years ago. I mentioned that my mother would have loved her shoes and suddenly I'm surrounded by two people who are no longer with me, it wasn't a sad feeling at all, it was heartwarming.
Finally, I met the Nurse Practitioner. She asked me what I did for a living while we were going over my medical records, and I hesitantly told her. Oddly enough, the only time I lack confidence in what I do and my business is with medical professionals because there are two schools of thought. I'm either a witch doctor peddling snake oil or in this amazing instance, I was validated and she absolutely loved what I did for a living. Not only that, she had a great respect that I left my career in banking to pursue a dream and went through with it.
I left the hospital that day smiling, I called my husband and told him about my great experience and how it left such an impact. I was beyond grateful for that special day and wanted to share it.
Small things matter. Brief interactions can change the course of your day, good or bad. As someone who constantly works on not thinking the worst of situations, this was a good lesson and a great day for me.
